Flood zones in Nashville

Do you need to be concerned about flood zones in Nashville - yes!

Even though there aren’t any major bodies of water in the majority of Nashville’s metro  neighborhoods, it is very common to see properties in  flood zones because of all the creeks around our city. It’s important to understand that just because a home is in a zone with elevated flood risk does not mean that it has flooded before – it just means that because of factors like elevation and proximity to a water source that the risk for flooding is higher. And just because a home is in a flood zone does not mean that it has flooded in the past. This is an important issue to understand because being in a flood zone can affect your property value – but it doesn’t mean that it’s a bad house. In fact, a portion of Tara’s personal property is in a  flood zone, but she has never had any issues with water.

If you’re interested in seeing your personal risk for flood, you can search for your property on the Fema flood map site here.
